Truly Interactive Recruiting: A "work-in-progress" consulting project focused on building a fully-optimized, user-centered experience.

ccfusion.jpgBuilding Online Communities: At CareerCowboy my team and I built a trusted community of over 15,000 professionals interested in or currently working for venture backed startups inthe southeast. Additionally, we created next generation recruiting tools in an age of "zero innovation."

Transforming RTI's Career Website:

971403-613198-thumbnail.jpgWhen I joined RTI it was obvious the Career Web was not fully optimized. The expectation of users: an experienced professional would a) find the career URL, 2) send in a resume, and 3) hope for a response. It was not at all optimized. I built a plan to rapidly build a new site, in-line with RTI's new brand. Many corporate recruiting leaders are not connected with the internal marketing department; Ithought it was critical--and it paid off very well. We transfromed the entire expereince, increased applications by over 1000% and created utility for connection to future state process, such as on-boarding, college recruiting microsites, etc.

I worked with many people on this, one of the folks that stands out in my mind was Stuart Somer. Really bright, ultra creative type who handles external website for RTI. One key lesson, involve stakeholders and necessay resources early to ensure project success. Simply "farming out" any effort that touches multiple internal functions (IT, Marketing, HR, etc) will not work. Many recruitment advertising firms live on work that is "farmed out" by internal recruiting departments. My preference in this case was to keep the career web under my control.

Pioneering Niche Job Boards: In late 1996 while commuting from Atlanta to Denver for New Era of Networks I logged many hours in travel mode. I built Colorado's first regional job board, "Colorado Computer Jobs." I was quickly able to build a very high quality network of tech professionals and helped not only my own recruiting efforts, but those of my peers in what was a super-growth mode for teh Denver Tech Center.
